Hi all,

I would like to inform you that ifi and Intermedia, on behalf of the
Norwegian network on ICT and Development, are organising the international
conference "Digital Inclusion and Open Source" on Oct 20-21. Please help
us to inform students and colleagues that you think will be interested to
go to this event.

Venue: Forskningsparken (Oslo Innovation Centre), FP1 - Conference room 4

The aim of the conference is to gather researchers, policy makers and
activists to address current issues on the digital divide and access
to ICT. The 'free and open source software' (FOSS) movement has
recently become key to discussions and developments in this area. The
conference will focus on current efforts to bridge digital gaps and
promote digital inclusion, at both local and global levels, with the
second World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) in Tunisia in
November 2005 as a backdrop.

Thursday October 20 (starts 9:00) centers on the FOSS movement and
includes a keynote on FOSS communities, by Dr. Ruben van Wendel de
Joode and a panel session on the application of FOSS in the public
sector with participation from the Netherlands, Brazil and SkoleLinux.

The theme of Friday October 21 (starts 9:00) is Digital Inclusion. It
kicks off with a keynote by Prof. Frank Webster and continues with a
panel on WSIS with representation from Norwegian authorities on
Foreign Affairs and Post and Telecommunications, the Swedish SPIDER
network, the NGO FAIR, and UiO researchers. The grand finale is a
keynote by Prof. Lawrence Lessig on "Creative Dialogues".
