Jepp, og det f=C3=B8rte meg til
file-coding-system-alist

Har n=C3=A5 satt opp emacs slik:
(setq file-coding-system-alist
      (append '(("\\.xml$" . utf-8)
               ("\\.x?html$" . utf-8))
               file-coding-system-alist))

B=C3=A5de xml og (x)html filer blir n=C3=A5 lagret i utf-8
